Let's look at some balls

Hey folks, I’ve had my head down working on some game systems, but I’m taking a quick break to put out a new release (0.2.0). It’s a small update, but a fun one:

Play the new release at itch.io

You can now choose from a selection of balls

I intentionally left the default ball very simple in release 0.1.0 (it’s a simple green ring) knowing that, given the neon aesthetic, a lot of fun can be had coming up with different ball looks.

It’s been a blast to just fire up Inkscape from time to time and doodle some new ball designs between programming sessions. Very therapeutic 🧘😌

Here’s what I have so far:

A side-bonus is that because of the trail shader setup I’m using, these more detailed balls leave some groovy trails.

Plunger looks a little nicer

I also gave the plunger a small aesthetic overhaul. The pseudo pantograph look provides a sense of contracting/expanding as the plunger is pulled and released. Originally I was thinking of a spring style, but this idea was more fun.
